Hair salons
What the industry is dealing with
As of 11 October 2026, hair salons in Europe face the same choice in different currencies: pay for the marketplace’s new clients, pay for visibility, or build a direct path of their own.
- Percentage fees punish long appointments. In Poland, Booksy’s Boost takes 45% (net) of the services in a new client’s first visit, capped at 250 zł net (Booksy price list, as of 11 October 2026). On a colour or extensions appointment, that cap is reached quickly. Fresha’s UK pricing also lists a fee for new clients who arrive through its marketplace.
- Visibility can be tied to your plan. Sweden’s Bokadirekt takes no booking commission (price list), but its free plan is not visible online and higher plans rank higher. The cost moves from the booking to the subscription.
- Salons are asking for set-up help. Freelance job boards carry requests from salons for help setting up their booking system and website together, for example on PeoplePerHour in the UK.
- The client’s search often ends on the marketplace. Someone who types your salon’s name, or “hairdresser” and your area, may land on your marketplace profile. That page decides what they see next, including other salons nearby.
What we do for hair salons
A price list that books the right slot. Services with durations, colour options explained in plain words, and a clear note on consultations or patch tests if you require them. Fewer phone calls asking “how long is a full head?”.
Direct booking from your website and Google. The booking button and your Google profile both use your app’s own salon link, the one that does not trigger a new-client fee. We check which link that is in your settings.
Deposits and cancellation rules. For long appointments, a deposit through your booking app or a payment provider, with rules stated clearly before booking.
Local search. Pages and a Google profile that match how people search in your area, with photos of your work rather than stock images.
Help with the phone. If calls go unanswered during colour sessions, an AI assistant can take bookings or messages. It tells callers they are speaking to an AI assistant.

Questions we hear most often
Can't find your question? Write or call — we'll give you a straight answer, no strings attached.
[email protected]+48 889 009 55001Why does the fee matter more for colour clients?
Fees calculated as a percentage of the first visit grow with its value. In Poland, for example, Booksy's Boost takes 45% (net) of the first visit's services, capped at 250 zł net, according to Booksy's price list as of 11 October 2026. A cut and blow-dry and a full colour are very different amounts.
02Can the website take deposits for long appointments?
If your booking app or a payment provider supports it, yes. Your deposit and cancellation rules must be clear in your terms and shown before the client books.
03Can clients see how long a service takes?
Yes. We show durations next to prices, and where your app supports it, we split colour services into clear options so clients book the right slot.
Promises we can actually keep.
The same rules on every project — from the first call to support after launch.
