Multilingual websites that read as if they were written locally

We add language versions for the markets you actually serve, with their own URLs, correct hreflang, local payment methods and copy written for a German or Swedish customer rather than pasted from a translation tool.

01Overview

Multilingual websites

Who it’s for

Hotels, guesthouses and tour operators with guests from across Europe. Online shops shipping to Germany, the Netherlands or Scandinavia. Service and B2B firms in the UK or Ireland looking for clients on the continent, and continental firms that want a proper English or Polish version rather than a footnote.

What we do

We begin with evidence: analytics, booking data and your inbox usually reveal which languages to add first. Each one becomes a separate version with its own URLs, such as /de/ and /sv/, rather than a script that swaps text on a single page and leaves search engines confused.

Every version carries hreflang annotations pointing to its equivalents, following Google’s documentation, and sits in the sitemap. The language switcher takes visitors to the same page in another language, not back to the homepage. We don’t force redirects based on browser language; at most, we politely suggest a version.

Translation is only half of it. A Dutch customer expects iDEAL at checkout. A German guest wants to know whether there is a charging point for the car and whether dogs are welcome. A Swedish buyer may look for Klarna. We adapt examples, units, date and phone formats, currencies and payment options, and we write page titles and headings around what people actually search for in each language.

Copy is produced in one of three ways, agreed in the quote. You or your team draft it and we edit; we commission a professional translator; or we prepare a machine draft that a fluent reviewer checks before publishing. Forms, confirmation emails, error messages and the cookie banner are translated too, including the privacy wording.

How we work

  1. Tell us the languages and page count; the quote follows within 24 hours.
  2. A free concept: a mockup of one page in the target language.
  3. A contract with a fixed price and staged payments.
  4. URL structure, translation, localisation and build.
  5. hreflang and indexing checks after launch, plus 30 days of free fixes.

Typically 10–25 working days for an existing site, depending on the number of pages and languages. Waiting for an external translator or adding local payment methods extends it.

What we need from you

A decision on languages, final source copy (changes mid-translation multiply the work), your translator’s contact if you have one, and someone who can approve each language or name a trusted reviewer.

Technology and integrations

We build language versions on whatever runs your site, for example a content management system with a multilingual plug-in or a lightweight static build. Your booking engine, shop and chat need to speak the visitor’s language as well. We check that yours can, and connect it through its API or an embed.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t publish unreviewed machine translation.
  • We don’t create versions for countries you don’t serve.
  • We don’t swap languages with a script on a single URL.
  • We don’t translate contracts or terms. That needs a translator working with a lawyer.

03Questions

Questions we hear most often

Can't find your question? Write or call — we'll give you a straight answer, no strings attached.

01Is a translation plug-in good enough?

As a starting draft, sometimes. We only publish text a fluent human has reviewed. Unedited machine output reads oddly to native speakers, and Google's spam policies target large amounts of low-value generated content.

02Should we use a country domain like .de or a folder like /de/?

For most small and mid-sized businesses, folders on one domain are simpler to run and build authority faster. Country domains make sense when each market has its own team, pricing and legal entity. We'll recommend one in the quote.

03Do we need a separate English version for the UK and Ireland?

Usually not. One English version with neutral wording, euro and sterling where relevant and the right contact details works for both. We split versions only when offers, prices or regulations genuinely differ.

04Can you add Polish for customers in Poland?

Yes. We speak Polish, English, Ukrainian and Russian. In German we reply in writing. We know the local expectations in Poland, such as BLIK and Przelewy24 at checkout and invoice details for KSeF.
