Website redesign
Who it’s for
Businesses whose site has quietly fallen behind. It’s awkward on a phone, slow to load, the services have changed, and every edit means fighting an old theme. We see this a lot with small hotels and B&Bs that have a website but still take most bookings through OTAs, and with firms that have rebranded, merged or started selling in a new country.
What we do
A redesign starts with an audit, not a mood board. We look at which pages bring visitors and enquiries, which searches you already appear for, what analytics says about how people move through the site, how fast it loads on mobile and which technical errors are holding it back. The output is a plain table: keep, merge, rewrite, remove.
From that we build the new structure. Pages that perform keep their content, with light editing at most. Weak pages are rewritten with you. You then get a free mockup of 1–2 screens of the new version, so you can see the change before signing anything.
The riskiest moment in any redesign is changing URLs. Before launch we prepare a 301 redirect map for every old page that has traffic or inbound links, following Google’s guidance on site moves. After switchover, we submit the new sitemap in Search Console and watch for 404s and indexing issues over the following weeks.
We also clear out what has piled up over the years: unused plugins, tracking scripts firing without consent, forms with no privacy notice, cookie banners without a real “Reject” button. For a UK site that means setting cookies up under PECR; for visitors from the EU, the stricter consent rules there.

What we need from you
Access to the CMS, hosting or server, Google Search Console and analytics (or permission to set them up), a short list of what annoys you about the current site, and one person who can approve content changes.
Technology and integrations
We can stay on your current CMS, on a clean install, or move content to something that suits your team better. Working connections stay working: your booking engine (for example Mews or Little Hotelier), CRM or newsletter tool. Anything new can be connected too, provided it exposes an API.
What we don’t do
- We don’t take the old site down before the new one is ready.
- We don’t delete pages with traffic without a redirect.
- We don’t promise higher rankings after a redesign. We make sure the rebuild doesn’t damage them.
- We don’t carry old plugins and scripts across just because they were there.

Not quite. A new website starts from a blank page. A redesign starts from evidence: which pages rank, which bring enquiries, what visitors ignore. That usually makes it faster and less risky.
02Our site was built by a developer who has disappeared. Can you still work on it?
Usually, yes. If you control the domain, we can recover access to hosting and the CMS step by step. Where something can't be recovered, we rebuild it and redirect the old addresses.
03Can customers keep using the old site while the new one is built?
Yes. The new version is built on a private staging address. Your current site stays up until switchover, which normally takes minutes rather than hours.
04What happens to pages other websites link to?
Every old URL with traffic or external links gets a 301 redirect to its closest new equivalent. You'll see the full redirect list before launch.
