Słupsk
Słupsk: a zone headquarters with the coast next door
Słupsk is where the Słupsk Special Economic Zone is run from. Its operator, Pomorska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego, is based at ul. Obrońców Wybrzeża 3 and supports investors in 13 towns across Pomerania and West Pomerania, from Słupsk to Koszalin and Kołobrzeg. The city itself has 84,217 residents and 13,510 registered business entities. Of those, 96.9% are micro-firms and 96 are companies with foreign capital.
The coast shapes the local economy more than the city’s hotel numbers suggest. Słupsk had only 9 tourist accommodation establishments with 414 beds in July 2025. Ustka, about 17 km away, had 56 establishments with 5,681 beds. Yet 283 entities are registered in accommodation in Słupsk, more than in Bydgoszcz, which has almost four times the population. A registered address and a place of business are not the same thing. If you run a guesthouse on the coast, your guests search for “Ustka”, not for the town where your company is registered.
The foreign guests who stay in Słupsk itself are a distinctive group: 55.3% of the 1,796 recorded in 2025 came from Ukraine.
